“Utter” & Press offer a paper stage for the spoken word.

Finding the gap between a performance and its corresponding text tantalising, we publish paper artefacts designed to capture something of that wild magic of theatre. They are books* which look directly at the problem of pressing words permanently into a shape, when their meaning, spoken with the natural shifts and breath of a voice, can move and change.

Through a sensitive approach to typography, design, illustration and an obsessive attention to paper choice and construction we form thoughts, words or movement into something you can hold.

We want to slow down. To listen to ourselves. To capture in ink and press on to paper.

*(They are not always books)
